We will provide £150 to fund or part fund activities that celebrate, recognise and thank volunteers during Volunteers’ Week 2026 (1–7 June 2026) as well as thank you cards and other materials.

This micro-grant programme is designed to help local organisations create meaningful opportunities to recognise the contribution volunteers make to communities across Wirral.

Activities can be formal or informal and should reflect the needs, culture and creativity of each organisation and its volunteers. We particularly welcome creative, inclusive and community-led ideas.

Examples of eligible activities include:

  • Volunteer celebration events

  • Thank-you gatherings, lunches or social activities

  • Certificates, recognition awards or celebration materials

  • Community celebration activities involving volunteers

  • Volunteer wellbeing or appreciation sessions

  • Inclusive activities that help volunteers feel valued and connected

  • Small-scale promotional or storytelling activities linked to Volunteers’ Week

Organisations have flexibility to decide what activity works best for their volunteers and communities.

Successful organisations will be expected to:

  • Deliver their activity during Volunteers’ Week 2026

  • Acknowledge support from the programme where appropriate

  • Share simple feedback after the event, including:

    • Number of volunteers involved

    • Number of attendees

    • Photographs (where consent is available)

    • Short quotes, stories or reflections about the impact of volunteering and the celebration activity

This information will help us collectively celebrate volunteering across Wirral and demonstrate the impact of the programme.
